We are bringing the proposals forward now because we can see a real
opportunity to create a lively, attractive and high quality development.
The wider region is undergoing a renaissance; the city is economically
strong, and the wave of change is now reaching Beeston and Chilwell.
Beeston town centre nearby is set for major change. New homes and
shops are planned or underway. The High Road is becoming an attractive
and diverse mix of speciality shops and restaurants. Castle College
are ready to begin their new development of the Chilwell Campus opposite
the site. The Town Centre Area Action Plan by the Borough Council
will hopefully provide a clear plan for further investment. The Bartons
site is the largest site being considered by the plan.
Queens Road West to the south is reinvigorated
as a major new commercial corridor into the town and city centres.
Our plans will contribute to the continued regeneration of Beeston
town centre and its
surroundings, creating a place for new business, and a place for
local shops. Our development will also provide attractive new places
to live in close proximity to local services and facilities, and
opportunities for people to live and work in the same location.
The Nottingham Tram – NET – is
planned to run past the site along the High Road in 2013. This
will bring major benefits, and make Beeston town centre a short ride
away and Nottingham city centre just a few minutes away. It strengthens
the potential of the Bartons site as an important location for
new homes and businesses. |
